Our Story

The Meals on Wheels Program of Stevens Point provides nutritious meals to homebound older adults and disabled individuals who are unable to prepare food independently within the Stevens Point community.  Meals are provided Monday through Friday with the help of volunteers who deliver the meals and make personal contact with each recipient to ensure their safety and well being.

Since 1971, when the first eight meals were delivered, Meals on Wheels of Stevens Point has been serving the homebound in our community.Today, the program continues to provide services that promote independent living. The success of the Meals on Wheels program is because of the generous donations of time by our volunteers. In 2018, over 32,000 meals were delivered to homebound residents in the Stevens Point community by over 120 volunteers donating 1-2 hours per day to deliver the meals.

Funding for the Meals on Wheels program is received from recipient donations, the United Way of Portage County, area grants, and gifts from area organizations, churches, and individuals.  Meals on Wheels is a non-profit program.
